Hairstylist Have Bad Days
Hairstylists are humans first. We don’t wake up every morning with a comb in our hands ready to work. Half the time we wear hats, because our hair is the last to be cut and styled. We have bad days, just like any profession. We have days where we want to call off, leave early, quit, and even contemplate a whole new career. We have days when your haircut or style or color might be off. We are not perfect but a good hairstylist is accommodating and accountable.
I have learned that it’s much easier to be accommodating and accountable than it is to place blame. In my experience, it is best to leave emotions at the door and to serve each client to the best of my abilities. It is only right to communicate with my guest to ensure their satisfaction. Just because I might be having a bad day, that doesn’t mean the service should suffer. It’s easier said than done to be a successful hairstylist. Just ask the ones that are still around. We come to slay but honey our slaying doesn’t always be slaying. Sometimes it’s “taking” instead of “giving”. Sometimes we need to take a break (or a class) and come back motivated. However, there is no excuse for a bad day beautician. It is our duty to satisfy and also to be satisfied with our work.
As I conclude, Let’s not confuse a “bad day” with a “bad attitude” there is a difference. I will discuss that topic later. Hairstylists have bad days but your hair shouldn’t have to pay the price.
